Summer Movie Report 2

So, I don't really see where the haters are coming from, but I thought "Pirates 3" was as entertaining as the others. Better than the second, not as good as the first in my book. "Shrek 3" was very entertaining. Yes, probably not as good as the first two but I can't say I hated it. STOP THE WITCHHUNT! THEY'RE ONLY MOVIES! I know I was not a lover of Spidey's third outing but I'm also fallible in leading the charge with a torch, I suppose. I'm human and perhaps too old for Spiderman; sue me. But Batman and Superman apparently still bring the goods. Weird, huh? "Oceans 13," like "Pirates," better than the second and not as fun as the first but the bit with Matt Damon and Ellen Barkin was pretty fantastic. Also dug the mini-"Godfather" reunion with Pacino and Garcia sandwiching Bernie Mac as a blackjack dealer. "Bug" was nice and scary but not in the way a modern audience seemed to be used to. I watched this one with some real vocal haters. You can tell "Bug" was a play first and maybe it'd have worked better that way but I was sufficiently creeped. "Knocked Up" is still my hands-down movie of the summer. "Die Hard," and "Harry Potter" outings remain as do some transforming robots, Simpsons, Jason Bourne, and "SuperBad." A nice summer movie forecast for NEXT summer, in this writer's book, is that Indy 4 is supposed to be actually shooting after thirteen years-plus of starts and stops. Good news for this fedora geek. Have fun, kids!
