The Half-Way Point...

Fall semester is chugging along and I'm not a very good student. I should specify, though, for any parents of mine who might read this column. I do my homework and I get decent marks but I feel like a square peg in a round hole among academics. I like education and I hardly think I know everything there is to know. But for me the joy is in the process of learning and not the result. So much emphasis is placed on grades and evaluations in a world where the act of attending college, itself, becomes more and more rare. I'm coming off of what has become a seven year commitment to a non-profit theater company that had me working just as hard as I do at school. In the attempt of avoiding future ulcers, I am adopting a new attitude: que sera sera, whatever will be, will be. Don't misunderstand me, I care about what I'm doing in college and I get a lot out of it, but I'm not going to feel miserable anymore if I'm not brilliant in a class right away. And I also plan on taking this out on the teachers that expect such things. I'm learning and, like I do every semester, I know I'm getting better at this stuff. Still, I'm not there yet and that's going to have to be all right. If you can't tell, it's mid-terms:).
-IT-

I've been watching:

---The X-Files: Black Oil (2nd DVD collection of solely mythology episodes; while there were doozy stand-alones, the conspiracy shows were always my favorite, anyway...)

---Scrubs: Complete First Season (laughed so hard, I cried...)

I've been writing:

---A feature film script called "The Alpha Test" with my friend, Joe...

I've been reading:

---Captain America (yes, THAT Captain America...current run is better than Hitchcock and Clancy's love child) by Ed Brubaker, Steve Epting, and Michael Lark

I've been acting in:

---"The Rocky Horror Show" by Richard O'Brien (playing Frank'N'Furter or Eddie, depending on the night you ask and having a superb time...)
